भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के पूर्व कप्तान अजीत वाडेकर का बुधवार रात निधन हो गया वो 77 वर्ष के थे. वाडेकर लंबे समय से बीमार थे.वाडेकर ने जसलोक अस्पताल में अंतिम सांस ली. उन्होंने 13 दिसंबर 1966 को वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ टेस्ट डेब्यू किया था और टीम में लगातार 8 साल तक रहे थे. उन्ही की कप्तानी में भारत ने पहली बार इंग्लैंड में हराया था. उनकी मौत के बाद खेल जगह में शोक है.

अजित वाडेकर का जन्म 1 अप्रैल 1941 को मुंबई में हुआ उन्होने सन् 1958-59 में प्रथम श्रेणी क्रिकेट में पदार्पण किया और अपने लाजवाब प्रदर्शन की बदौलत भारत की राष्ट्रीय टीम में जगह निश्चित की और वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ अपने घेरलू मैदान पर अपने टेस्ट करियर का आगाज किया. उन्होंने अपना पहला टेस्ट मैच दिसंबर 1966 में खेला और सन 1977 तक टीम के लिए कुल 37 टेस्ट मैच खेले.
